Technical Director

Our client is looking for an experienced Technical Director responsible for developing and maintaining the systems and infrastructure that powers the game and our development platform.

You will lead a team of system developers in the creation and implementation of new features and tools, ensuring they are reliable, efficient, and scalable.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of game engine technology, an extensive experience directing a team of engineers and having worked on a game live service.

The Technical Director will report directly to the CTO and will be a critical member of the technology leadership team at the studio.

  • Strategic responsibility and vision-setting for our use of the Unreal Engine, our central tech development and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) process.
  • Team leadership, people-management, and decision-making authority with a focus on high-level objectives.
  • Acting manager for the central tech team handling mentoring, salaries, recruitment, productivity and wellbeing or the employees.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies, techniques, and industry trends related to game engine and system development.
  • Responsible for engine and central tech KPIs like stability, performance, memory and infrastructure budgets.
  • Collaborate and manage partnerships with external technical partners.
  • Manage technical dependencies and risks.


  • 7+ years of experience in game development, working as Technical Director on at least one shipped AAA title.
  • Experience driving development of tools, infrastructure and strategies needed to drive a successful live service is a big plus.
  • Strong understanding of game engine architecture, including experience with Unreal, Unity or other game engines.
  • Broad knowledge from working in many areas like rendering, physics, networking, memory management, auto-testing and CI/CD.
  • Experience of performance optimization techniques on different software and hardware platforms.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of developers.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
